Our Misson
Map of Life aims to support effective and global biodiversity education, monitoring, research, and decision-making by assembling and integrating a wide range of knowledge about species distributions and their dynamics over time.
Research backed by Yale University
Since 2012, the scientific core of Map of Life has been developed and advanced by the Center for Biodiversity and Global Change at Yale University.
Winners of XPRIZE Rainforest competition
The Map of Life Rapid Assessments team took second place in the five-year XPRIZE Rainforest competition, demonstrating the enormous potential for noninvasive, scalable biodiversity monitoring to revolutionize conservation efforts.
